Read the latest update from Director Marty Fort:
Happy March, Academy families!
The Columbia Arts Academy will be CLOSED FOR LESSONS for Spring Break from Thursday, March 28th through Wednesday, April 3rd. We will reopen for lessons on Thursday, April 4th.
In case you missed it, we will have a makeup day on Tuesday, April 2nd, to compensate for our Inclement Weather closure on Tuesday, January 9th, 2024. We appreciate your understanding as we navigated the (somewhat) rare South Carolina storm days that resulted in our needing to close. We wanted to ensure that you have an opportunity to make up your private lesson from that day.
We will be open only for the students who missed lessons during the inclement weather. Your lesson time will remain the same as it was on Tuesday, January 9th, even if you had changed your lesson time since then. For example, if your lesson was at 3 pm on January 9th (the Tuesday we closed), then your lesson will be at 3 pm on Tuesday, April 2nd.
If you are unable to attend your private makeup lesson, please let us know as soon as possible, and we can have the instructor record a video lesson of material for you for that day. Again, we appreciate your understanding and patience. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out!
Calling All String Students! We have a performance opportunity for our acoustic strings students to showcase their talents at the Jenni-Lynn Assisted Living Community on Saturday, April 13th at 2 pm. This opportunity is open to all acoustic strings students (Guitar, Uke, Violin, etc) at all three schools. There is no performance fee, but students do need to sign up to participate by emailing us at info@irmomusicacademy.com.
Sign-ups for our 2024 Summer Recital will CLOSE on April 1st! After this date, we won't be able to add any more students to the performance schedule, so please reserve your spot now! Recital dates are: Friday, June 14th; Saturday, June 15th; Sunday, June 16th; Monday, June 17th; Friday, June 28th; Saturday, June 29th; Sunday, June 30th.
Due to scheduling conflicts with the Darla Moore School of Business, we will not be able to hold our 2024 Summer Recitals at Johnson Hall. Instead, the June recitals will be hosted at the Koger Center in the Large Rehearsal Room. Remember, the last day to register for the summer recitals in June will be March 31st!
To make it easier for you, we've created a dedicated recital page with the sign-up form, dates, and other essential information, including parking details and maps. Visit: columbiaartsacademy.com/recitals
Here's to a fantastic 2024 of making music with you all at the Columbia Arts Academy, Lexington School of Music, and Irmo Music Academy – students, families, and teachers alike!
The Columbia Arts Academy, Lexington School of Music & Irmo Music Academy are the only music schools in the Midlands that gives their students the opportunity to earn special color wristband bracelets (kids and teens love them!), trophies AND certificates for passing musical tests with the Musical Ladder System®. It was actually created by academy Director Marty Fort. It has been awarded multiple patents and is being used by schools nationwide.
Do other schools offer trophies and certificates? A few. But none of them inspire their students with smiling faces by giving them full color, really cool "Musical Ladder System®" wristbands that they can show off to their friends.
Please Welcome the our new students who registered in March!
Many teachers have sold out. If you need a schedule change or would like to be added to a waiting list for a particular teacher, day or time, please contact any of our office staff team and they can add you to the waiting list. If you are not a student yet there are still limited lessons spots available.
